It was a Monday. LEH administration had asked all the students to be there by 11.am. I was there right on time. I was nervous. I could see many families dropping their kids. Yes it was a little emotional! But there were many like me, looking forward to enjoy the new life, a fresh independent life!

After the whole see-off session, we were asked to be at the induction room. “The whole atmosphere, new friends, new life, all this will be so exciting”, I said to myself ” ! After an hour of induction, we were asked to go and check our respective hostel rooms. Wow, that moment was thrilling, awaiting to see how the place would be like where I am going to spend four years of my life. Believe me guys, the room is excellent, its worth the stay!

Soon I  became friends with all. We all decided to make a short trip round the Institute. LEH provides students with almost everything. From a campus which is Wi-Fi connected for easy access to Cyber Hotel at Lavasa for hand-on experience to hostel laundry facility.

These were the frequent questions asked by my folks!! Right from my childhood, I was highly inclined towards the managing acts of the various family functions and festive occasions! Soon, my relatives and friends started asking me for various ideas and themes for their parties and functions. Also not to forget, cooking was my passion. Since childhood, I was highly fond of cooking.

Well, after the completion of my course, I got to work as an intern in a three star hotel in Mumbai itself. Well, trust me guys, life isn’t that all easy at the initial stage but yes with time you get to learn new things which really help you in the long run.

Soon I started working as a chef in a five-star hotel in Mumbai. I realized that my educational background helped me in finding jobs easily. Within three years I was appointed as the head of the Mumbai Chef committee. As I was happy playing the role of a chef and a committee head, another opportunity knocked my door. My friend who is a hotelier himself, offered me to be the Joint CEO of his three star hotel.The huge set of responsibilities frightened me at first but soon I got to the core of handling such a huge hospitality company. Today I can proudly say that whatever I have achieved is truly because of my studies. The standards at which we were taught at LEH are  incomparable. Apprentice Programmes:

At the basic level are the government sponsored apprentice programmes to develop sub-skill competencies to give youth the opportunity to acquire gainful employment in the industry.These programmes run for maximum of one and half years based on the skill.Class X pass outs and some at Class XII are eligible for such programmes.Hotels are mandatory in accordance to hire apprentices.

Food Craft Institutes:

On the next level are Food Craft Institutes that are sponsored by government to prepare youth for skilled levels in the hotel industry. Some private hotel schools have these short courses now. Students are developed to hold positions as Receptionists, Waiters, Room Attendants and certain skills within the Kitchens. Programs typically have six months in the school and six month internships. They are also open to Class X students .

Hotel Management Schools:

Then there are the popular Hotel Management Schools, both government sponsored and private. Programmes are three to four years in duration based on the curriculum they follow and the accrediting association they have. A few are lucky to join Management Training Programmes of hotels. Students are prepared for hotel operations concerned with service delivery to customers.They would typically become Captains in restaurants, Floor Supervisors in Housekeeping, Front Office Supervisors, or Demi-Chef-de-parties in Kitchens after training.
